Signal 8 is built to work with the systems your department already relies on. Our growing list of integration partners ensures Smart Squad fits seamlessly into your existing workflows.
FAQ’s
Smart Squad is CJIS compliant. This means it follows the FBI’s strict security standards for managing and protecting law enforcement data. By meeting these requirements, Smart Squad ensures that sensitive information is handled with the highest level of protection and that departments can trust the system to stay in line with national security rules.
Smart Squad can integrate with the existing systems your department already relies on. This includes CAD and dispatch systems, reporting tools, records management systems, and other law enforcement applications. Instead of requiring officers to jump between multiple platforms, Smart Squad unifies these systems into a single, easy-to-use interface that saves time and reduces errors.
Officers are able to use Smart Squad on their personal phones if the department allows it. For consistency and security, it’s often recommended that agencies create a clear policy about personal phone use. At the same time, Smart Squad works seamlessly on department-issued work phones for agencies that prefer to keep usage limited to official devices.
Smart Squad is not limited to mobile devices. It works across cell phones, laptops, and desktop computers, and is compatible with Apple, Android, and Windows. This flexibility ensures that officers and staff can access Smart Squad on the device that best fits their workflow, whether they’re in the field, at the station, or working remotely.
If a phone loses service, Smart Squad continues to function. The system automatically backs up data every 7 seconds, so no information is lost. Officers can keep working offline, and once service is restored, all stored data is securely uploaded and synced. This ensures that disruptions in coverage never disrupt operations or cause data loss.
Yes. Smart Squad only tracks officers during their active shifts. When an officer’s shift ends or they log out, the system stops tracking. This way, departments have visibility and accountability when needed, but officers’ personal time remains private.
At the moment, Smart Squad’s AI note-taking does not translate languages. However, it will accurately transcribe notes in whatever language is spoken. These transcriptions can then be translated later if necessary using other tools. This ensures reliable note capture while still giving departments flexibility for multilingual needs.
Yes. Smart Squad itself does not store data, it simply transfers information into the department’s existing systems. Because of this, open records requests are handled the same way they are today, through the department’s official records systems. Smart Squad doesn’t change or limit how those requests are processed, ensuring compliance with public records laws.
We’ve worn the badge. We built this to make the job better.

At Signal 8, we’re not tech outsiders - we’re former officers, veterans, and public safety professionals. We know the grind of chasing down systems, reports, and red tape. Smart Squad was built to fix that.
